Event #: FRI-BG-1 GM: Tim Bugher
Event Description: Giant ScrumBrawl is a game for 1-4 players who take control of various magical creatures participating in an arena based combat sport where each player or team strives to be the first to score 3 points. The game is played on a 20' by 20' board which allows for life sized chickens and pixies! Points are awarded either through combat or the scoring of goals. Gameplay is fast paced, chaotic and often quite humorous! I mean, where else can you pit a Chicken against a Dragon or a Leprechaun against a Stump?

Titan Slugfest

Event #: FRI-BG-3 GM: Richard Neal
Event Description: Titan is a classic Fantasy Monster Slug-a-thon game published for many years by The Avalon Hill Game Co, but this game will use the Valley Games edition republished in 2008. The game is divided into two realms, the masterboard and the battleboards. On the masterboard, legions of mythical creatures roam about trying to recruit bigger and bigger creatures and destroy opposing legions in the process. When a combat occurs, the action moves to the corresponding battleboard type corresponding to the area the fight is taking place in. After lots of dice are tossed, the legion that remains standing returns to the masterboard and scores points based upon the size of the creatures defeated.

The points are used to recruit Angels and Archangels and to make the Titan, who is the leader of the player's army, more powerful. However, if the Titan is destroyed, the owning player is out of the game.

The last Titan standing wins the game. If more than one Titan is remaining after 4 hours, the one with the most points plus the point value of remaining creatures will determine the winner.

Le Havre

Event #: FRI-BG-4 GM: Eric Guttag
Event Description: Can You Amass the Largest Fortune from Francs, Buildings and Ships?

Le Havre is Uwe Rosenberg’s classic economic action selection/worker placement game. Each player's turn consists of two parts: (1) distribute newly supplied goods onto one of 7 offer spaces; and (2) take an action by collecting the supplied goods from any of the 7 offer spaces, or else using one of the available buildings to upgrade goods, sell goods, or use those goods to build their own buildings or ships. Buildings are both an investment opportunity and a potential revenue stream, as players must pay an entry fee to use buildings that they do not own. Ships are used to provide a consistent stream of food to feed workers, as well as to ship goods for revenue. After every 7 turns, the round ends as each players’ cattle and grain may multiply through a Harvest, while the town may also construct special or standard buildings for use and/or purchase by the players. Players must also feed their workers, the amount required increasing each round. After a fixed number of rounds, each player may carry out one final action, and then the game ends. Players add the value of their buildings and ships to their cash reserves. The player who has amassed the largest fortune from a combination of money (francs), buildings, and ships is the winner. Beginners and experienced players are welcome!

TERRAFORMING MARS: HELLAS & ELYSIUM + VENUS NEXT + PRELUDE + COLONIES EXPANSIONS

Event #: FRI-BG-5 GM: Eric Guttag
Event Description: Can You Make Habitable One or Both of these Two New Regions on Mars?

Terraforming Mars: Hellas & Elysium uses the double-sided expansion board along with the other base game components. We will be playing one or both sides of this expansion board depending upon what the players wish. Hellas, the southern wild, includes Mars’ southpole and the enormous seven-hex Hellas crater begging to become a giant lake. Building around the pole gives you new placement bonuses as heat and even water. Elysium is almost on the opposite side of Mars’ equator, with vast lowlands for oceans in the north and a dry, mineral-rich south. A tile placed on Olympus Mons gains three free cards! Each map has new milestones and awards. The Venus Next, Prelude, and Colonies expansions will also be part of the mix! For experienced players of Terraforming Mars only (at least 6 prior games with base game and/or expansions, knowledge of the base game, plus expansion rules is expected).

FRI CARD GAMES

EMINENT DOMAIN

Event #: FRI-CG-1 GM: Eric Guttag
Event Description: Eminent Domain is a sci-fi themed deck-building game where players grow their space empire by conquering/settling planets and crafting their deck to gain victory. During each turn, players may execute an optional “action” by playing of a card from their hand. In addition, players must then select and execute one Role card from one of five different stacks in the central card display: (1) Survey cards to add new planets; (2) Warfare cards to gain warships and conqueror new planets; (3) Colonize cards to settle new planets; (4) combined Produce/Trade cards to either produce goods or trade produced goods for Influence tokens (aka, Victory tokens); and (5) Research to gain technology cards providing special benefits and bonuses to their space empire. Players may “boost” with other cards in their hand and/or planets that have the same icon as the selected Role card. But opposing players may also “follow” with cards and/or planets in their hands/empires that have the same icon (or may “dissent” and draw a card from their draw pile)! When a certain number of card stacks are exhausted in the central display or all 24 Influence tokens have been taken, the game ends. Whoever has the most combined Influence (from tokens, planets, and/or technology cards) is the winner. Beginners and experienced players are welcome!
