Over several game rounds, each player creates their galactic empire by using custom dice (representing their workers) to explore new game tiles, settle worlds and build developments (represented by those game tiles), produce goods on settled worlds, and ship those goods for Galactic Credits and/or Victory Point chips. Each player uses one of their rolled dice to select one of the five phases. After all players reveal how their dice have been allocated, the selected phases are then resolved simultaneously. Suburbia

Event #: FRI-BG-62 GM: Eric Guttag
Event Description: Suburbia is a highly thematic city-building game with the goal of having the largest population in the player’s borough. Each player buys and lays tiles in their borough to try to create an economic engine and infrastructure that is profitable, as well as encourages population growth. As income increases, more cash is on hand to purchase better and more valuable building tiles. As a player’s reputation increases, population will likewise increase. But beware!: increasing population will also eventually cause income and reputation to periodically decrease, so population growth must be managed carefully throughout the game. Players will also try to develop special bonuses and benefits that take advantage of the tiles placed in that player’s borough, as well as tiles placed in their opponents’ boroughs, plus also compete to achieve several unique goals that offer an additional population boost at the end of the game. Beginners and experienced players are welcome!

Rococo

Event #: FRI-BG-34 GM: Darrell Adkins
Event Description: Rococo is a Eurostyle board game with an interesting take on deck-building. Each turn you play one of your employee cards and let that employee perform a task: hire a new employee, buy resources, manufacture a coat or dress, or invest in the ball's decorations. But not every employee is up to every task, so you must choose and lead your employees wisely – especially since each employee grants a unique bonus and some of these bonuses generate prestige points.

After seven rounds, the game ends with the big ball and a final scoring. Then you gain prestige points for certain employee bonuses and for coats and dresses that you rent out to guests at the ball as well as for decorations that you funded. The player who collected the most prestige points wins.

Great Western Trail

Event #: FRI-BG-43 GM: Stuart Wright
Event Description: You are rival cattlemen in 19th century America, herding cattle in a circular trail from Texas to Kansas City. Your cattle are then shipped by train, earning you money and victory points. Needless to say, each time you arrive in Kansas City, you want to have your most valuable cattle in tow. However, the mastering the Great Western Trail not only requires that you keep your herd in good shape, but also that you wisely use the various buildings along the trail. It might also be a good idea to hire capable staff: cowboys to improve your herd, craftsmen to build your very own buildings, or engineers for the important railroad line.
The winner is the player who manages their herd best and exhibits good timing in mastering the opportunities and pitfalls of the Great Western Trail.

Porta Nigra

Event #: FRI-BG-44 GM: Dan Rye
Event Description: The largest Roman city north of the Alps in the late Roman Empire was Augusta Treverorum. Founded in the times of Caesar Augustus and built up by generations of Roman architects, this was the Emperor's residence and a world city during this period. The remains of these most impressive structures can still be visited today. Foremost of these great achievements in the city is the massive "Porta Nigra", a large Roman city gate located in Trier, Germany that dates to the 2nd century.

The game Porta Nigra (which translates as "black gate") is set in that place and time with the players taking on the roles of Roman architects working on the city gate of Porta Nigra. Each player commands a master builder, who moves around a circular track on the game board, enabling you to buy or build only where this master builder is located. Moving the master builder to farther locations along the track is expensive, so players must plan their movements and builds carefully. The number and type of actions that may be performed on your turn comes from cards in your personal draw deck.

Buildings are erected physically at the various locations around the city using 3D building pieces.

Stronghold (2nd edition)

Event #: FRI-BG-45 GM: Dan Rye
Event Description: Stronghold is a two-player game telling the story of a siege. Players take opposing sides: one has to defend the stronghold, and the other has to break into the castle as soon as possible. The game board represents the stronghold itself as well as the surrounding terrain, where enemy forces are placed and whence they proceed to the walls.

The defender has a small number of soldiers manning the walls, while the invader has an infinite legion of attacking creatures. A desperate fight takes place every single turn. The invaders build war machines, equip their soldiers, train them, and use black magic rituals to achieve victory. Meanwhile, defenders repair walls, build cannons, train soldiers, and do everything they can to hold the castle as long as possible.

If the invader manages to break into the castle before the end of seven rounds, they win; otherwise the defender wins.

MegaTokyo

Event #: FRI-RP-19 GM: Jason Brannen
Duration: 6 hour(s)
Event Description: Playing it safe isn’t working anymore; you’re not going to get out of this clean. You have illicit tech and the talent to use it. Time to go shake the city and see what falls out. You’ll get hurt, sure, but what kind of pain will you deal out?

Welcome to MegaTokyo.

The three Big Ones reduced the city to rubble every time everyone thought they were over. Sothvec's towers of "tomorrowland" sits next to the older downtowns, yet between the cracks large sections of the city remain as rubble. The thronging masses go about their business seemingly complacent and happily mixing with Artificial Persons (AP), with no evidence of bias or prejudice. The stories they tell each other in the back rooms and bedrooms are far different, stories of mad robots run amok. There is an unofficial but very prevalent code of silence that pervades everything, with people happily looking the other way, no desire to know what happens next. Technophiles believe APs are next the elevation of consciousness, quite literally, a God in the Machine. Rather than take risks, politicians and corporate decision makers sit on their hands, afraid of doing something wrong, willing to face the disastrous consequences of inaction, just to never put themselves in harm's way.

In Technoir you play protagonists like cyber-tweaked couriers, hard-nosed investigators, and drugged-out hackers making opportunities for themselves in a despairing world.

Legend of Gimcrack Jack

Event #: FRI-RP-20 GM: Sean Pittman
Duration: 4 hour(s)
Event Description: Ages 6+ with parent or guardian

For play with the Pathfinder Role-Playing Game

Level 2 Pre-Gen character sheets will be provided. No experience needed.
"The Legend of Gimcrack Jack", a Little Feet adventure by Gary Reynolds

The merchant guild from Anchor's Home have called up Little Feet Inc. to investigate an unusual set of burglaries. A few businesses have suffered recent thefts which has occurred under mysterious circumstances. Although the theft of items have not been too valuable, even the loss of petty baubles have them concerned that this may be the beginning of something much bigger.

Due to some loose tongues by employees, the incidents have been leaked publically and the populace has started to nickname the criminal “Gimcrack Jack.” Much to the chagrin of the merchants, the character has even become a reoccurring character of a local children’s show hosted by the renowned puppet master, Delgar Ashforged. This crafty gnome has taken advantage of the recent publicity from the thefts and turned the character into a bumbling buffoon who couldn’t tell a diamond from a jagged piece of glass. Gimcrack Jack’s fame is growing not so much from the crimes committed but by becoming the new favorite marionette among his many in stock.

Although his patrons are enjoying the show, how long will it take the real criminal to take vengeance on the puppet master or better yet–-who is the next merchant to be victimized?

OGRE: 6th Edition

Event #: FRI-TA-10 GM: Alan Schirtzinger
Event Description: OGRE 6th Edition was released in December - come slug it out as the OGRE battletank, or the array of other units trying to protect their Command Post from its onslaught!
I'll have up to 3, 2-player boards set up. The 2-hour time period will allow for game instruction and for each player to have a chance to play as, or defend against, the OGRE.
NOTE: This is not an "OGRE minis" game - 6th Edition uses a mix of 3-D cardboard pieces and flat counters. It doesn't really fit in the "board game" section, though...

"Ogre (and its sequel, G.E.V.) are tactical ground combat games set in the late 21st century.
In 2085 A.D., armored warfare is faster and deadlier than ever. Hovercraft, tanks and infantry slug it out with tactical nukes. But the most feared weapon of all needs no human guidance. It's the giant cybernetic tank called the Ogre.

Ogre was Steve Jackson's first design. It was originally released in 1977, as the first Metagaming Microgame. Since then, it has appeared in Pocket Box and "Deluxe" large-board editions, as well as a miniatures version and a computer game from Origin Systems (now long out of print)" SJGames.com

FIGHTING STEAM - Turncoat Ironclad

Event #: FRI-TA-27 GM: Paul Meyer
Event Description: The Fighting Steam saga of C.S.S. Eastport began at CINCYCON 2014 when a Federal squadron attacked the unfinished ram at her moorings on the Tennessee River. At CINCYCON 2017, the Eastport is back, now sailing under the Star and Stripes as part of a powerful Union force probing up the Red River. Stinkpots, turtles, rams, and shore batteris will slug it out at the Confederate strongpoint called Fort DeRussy.
Fighting Steam is a fast-play game for ACW naval actions inspired by the SPI classic Fighting Sail. It features an innovative, interactive turn sequence and a simple, deadly combat system. Advanced rules retain the playability of the original system while adding a higher level of detail for ships and weapons.
